About

Pedal Clips is a blog for sharing information about bicycling in Sacramento and Northern California.

It was born of the realization that I witness all types of situations every day on my two-wheel commute as well as on the weekends during my longer recreational rides. I see weird things, picturesque scenes, things that make me laugh and occasionally outrageous behavior. Using a helmet video camera and still camera, I decided to start capturing these events and sharing them as well as sharing other interesting news and videos about cycling.

I’ve been a photographer for most of my adult life and a cyclist for more than a decade. I commute to work almost every day and on weekends enjoy longer rides of 100 miles or more on the roads of Northern California.

I use a GoPro helmet camera for most of my videos and a Nikon V1 mirror-less camera for still images. I ride a Surly Steamroller “fixie” for my daily commute and either a Trek 5200 or Klein Q Pro Carbon for longer rides.

I have a few different routes for my commute and often ride some of the same routes on weekend rides. It often amazes me that I can ride the same route over and over and yet it will never be the same. The light will be different or the scenery will change – it’s just never the same.
